Slovenia, September 2014

Spent this week on a recce for Aspire2Summits Slovenia expedition next year. We planned to complete a North – South crossing of the Julian Alps, to include the summit of Triglav, Slovenia’s highest mountain by one of the more difficult Via Ferrata routes, either the Prag or the Tominskova Pot route. Unfortunately a sudden change in the weather brought 14 inches of snow in 2 days and high winds which prevented a summit attempt. We changed our route and still made a N-S crossing via Luknja and the Dolicu hut, finishing along the very beautiful 7 lakes route. The scenery was amazing and the local people very welcoming. Looking forward to our return expedition next year.
